JR. CANADIENS TO HOST SPECIAL CHARITY GAME

Press Release

The Toronto Junior Canadiens, in cooperation with Thunderbird Sports & Entertainment, will dedicate their home game versus the Mississauga Chargers on Sunday November 27 to support Prostate Cancer.

November, dubbed “Movember,” is prostate cancer month and the TJC will take up the cause by donating a portion of their ticket sales plus a variety of in-game fundraising schemes to help raise awareness and find a cure for the disease.

Prostate Cancer is growing risk amongst men over the age of 40. One in six men will be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in their lifetime.

“We are pleased to be helping the team with staging this fundraising game,” states Dave Robinson, owner of Thunderbird Sports. “We encourage all players, coaches, male fans and fathers, not only on the TJC, but around the league to grow a mustache and also to make a real sincere effort to get to this game on Sunday November 27. We are looking forward to having an interesting and very successful evening" adds Robinson. "What makes a great event is a good crowd so we really need everyone’s support.”

Fundraising activities in addition to ticket sales will include: 50/50, chuck a puck, raffle tickets and a silent auction. "We also really want the young TJC minor players to support the game by participating in on-ice intermission entertainment and a 3-on-3 minor hockey intermission game is planned," adds Robinson.

We are setting a goal of $2,000 for a fundraising donation to Prostate Cancer.

Tickets for the game will be specially priced at $12.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door.

Tickets will be available in advance at all TJC home games and can also be purchased at the Canadian Ice Academy, located at 3111 Universal Drive in Mississauga.
