Rutledge Commits to University of Michigan

Team USA goaltender Jared Rutledge has committed to play collegiate hockey at the University of Michigan following his USHL career.

Rutledge is currently in his second USHL season. He appeared in 19 USHL games for Team USA’s Under-17 squad in 2010-11 and won eight games, while posting a 2.55 goals-against-average and .920 save percentage. The 17-year-old native of Chicago, Illinois also recorded two shutouts – a 25-save effort vs. Chicago on February 19th and a 31-save performance in the 1-0 win against Youngstown on April 1st.

Four other members of the Ann Arbor-based Team USA are committed to play their college careers across town at the University of Michigan – Evan Allen, Connor Carrick, J.T. Compher, and Jacob Trouba. Four other USHL players are committed to play hockey at the school – Michael Downing (Dubuque Fighting Saints), Alex Kile (Green Bay Gamblers), Max Shuart (Muskegon Lumberjacks), and Justin Selman (Sioux Falls Stampede).

The University of Michigan is a member of the CCHA and currently has 13 USHL alumni on the roster; Greg Pateryn (Ohio Junior Blue Jackets), Mike Chiasson (Omaha Lancers), Kevin Clare (Team USA), Luke Moffatt (Team USA), Lee Moffie (Waterloo Black Hawks), Andrew Sinelli (Youngstown Phantoms), Derek DeBlois (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Travis Lynch (Green Bay Gamblers), Jeff Rohrkemper (Sioux Falls Stampede), Jon Merrill (Team USA), Alex Guptill (Waterloo Black Hawks), Adam Janecyk (Sioux City Musketeers), and Mac Bennett (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders).
