Wisconsin's Jeremy Johnson named Pizza Hut player of the week

Press Release

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Jeremy Johnson of the Wisconsin Wilderness has been named Pizza Hut player of the week for the period ending Oct. 23.

In two games this past week the forward from West Fargo, N.D., who turns 19 on Oct. 30, amassed nine points in a pair of Wisconsin victories.

He opened with a two-tally, five-assist performance in an 11-1 drubbing of Iron Range on Friday and followed that up the next night by scoring again and setting up the game-winner in a narrow 2-1 road win at Thunder Bay.

Johnson’s offensive outburst allowed him to move into a tie for fifth spot in SIJHL scoring with 15 points on seven markers and eight helpers for the league-leading Wilderness.

For his on-ice efforts Johnson will receive a gift card courtesy of Pizza Hut.

Honourable mention for the Pizza Hut player of the week award went to Byron Katapaytuk, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Jayme Brattengeier, (G) Sioux Lookout Flyers; Marshall Fox, (D) Thunder Bay North Stars; Ryan Lobreau, (F) Dryden Ice Dogs; Troy Olson (D) Duluth Clydesdales and Shamus O’Neill (F) Iron Range Iron Heads.

At the conclusion of the 2011-12 regular season the top player in the SIJHL will be presented with the Pizza Hut player of the year award.
