Darcy Chooses Northeastern University

Press Release

Team USA forward Cameron Darcy has committed to play collegiate hockey at Northeastern University following his USHL career.

The 17-year-old is playing in his second USHL season and has collected two points (1g, 1a) in two games for Team USA’s Under-18 squad. He collected 13 points (9g, 4a) in 37 USHL games last season for the Under-17 team. It is a big year for the 6-0, 187-pound forward as he is one of the top prospects leading into the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

It will be a bit of a homecoming for Darcy when he begins his career at Northeastern as he is a native of South Boston, Massachusetts. Two other USHL players have committed to Northeastern over the past two weeks – Youngstown Phantoms forward Ryan Belonger and defenseman Mike Gunn. Three other current USHL players are also committed to the school; goaltender Jon Gillies of the Indiana Ice and Lincoln Stars teammates Zach Aston-Reese and Mike McKee.

Northeastern University is a member of Hockey East and has 13 USHL alumni on the roster this season; Anthony Bitetto (Indiana Ice), Adam Reid (Team USA), Garrett Vermeersch (Lincoln Stars), Steve Quailer (Sioux City Musketeers), Justin Daniels (Sioux City Musketeers), Ben Oskroba (Lincoln Stars), Luke Eibler (Youngstown Phantoms), Drew Daniels (Sioux City Musketeers), Alex Tuckerman (Sioux City Musketeers), Clay Witt (Sioux Falls Stampede), Ludwig Karlsson (Green Bay Gamblers), Vinny Saponari (Dubuque Fighting Saints), and Robbie Vrolyk (Sioux Falls Stampede).
