WARRIORS' BEACH NAMED WHL PLAYER OF WEEK

CALGARY, AB. - The Western Hockey League announced today that Moose Jaw Warriors’ forward Cody Beach is the WHL Player of the Week.

Beach picked up eight points, scoring four goals and four assists to go with a +1 rating, in three games over the past week helping the Warriors to a 3-0-0-0 record.

On Wednesday, October 26, the Warriors played host to the Prince Albert Raiders at Mosaic Place. Beach tallied twice, added an assist and was named the games 2nd Star in the Warriors 5-2 win over the Raiders. On Friday, October 28, the Warriors travelled to Brandon to face the Wheat Kings. Beach scored two goals, two assists and was named the games 1st Star as the Warriors doubled the Wheaties 8-4. Back in Moose Jaw on Saturday, October 29, the Warriors welcomed Trans-Canada rivals the Regina Pats. Beach picked up an assist and was named the games 3rd Star in the Warriors 3-2 victory over the Pats.

Beach currently sits fifth in team scoring with nine points (4 goals, 5 assists) in eight games played and is a first time recipient of WHL Player of the Week honours. After winning three straight games the Warriors currently sit in a three-way tie for 2nd in the hotly contested WHL East Division with 19 points, just one back of the leading Regina Pats, with a 9-5-1-0 record.

The WHL has also nominated Tyler Bunz of the Medicine Hat Tigers for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award. Bunz posted a 2-0-0-0 record this past week with one shut-out, stopping all 57 of 59 shots faced for a 0.966 save-percentage and 1.00 goals-against average. Bunz, a native of St. Albert, AB, led the Tigers to home wins over the Portland Winterhawks (4-2) and Swift Current Broncos (5-0).
