Bulls announce trade with Saginaw

Press Release

BELLEVILLE, ON - Belleville Bulls Head Coach and General Manager George Burnett announced Thursday evening that the team has dealt 19 year-old forward Luke Cairns to the Saginaw Spirit. In exchange, the Bulls receive Sarnia's third round pick in 2016 and Saginaw's ninth round selection in 2016.

Cairns registered 6 goals and 8 assists in 19 games this season, spending most of his time on the wing. The 210 game OHL veteran was acquired by the Bulls in an offseason trade with the Erie Otters.

"With 15 forwards on the roster right now and everybody healthy, we want to stay committed to the growth and development of our young players," said Burnett of the trade. "An opportunity in Saginaw has presented itself and we wish Luke all the best moving forward."

Cairns joins the Spirit in Saginaw this weekend in action against the Plymouth Whalers and Sarnia Sting.

The Bulls prepare for a Midwest Division road trip with stops in Kitchener and Owen Sound on Friday and Saturday. Goaltender Charlie Graham won't suit up this weekend after a collision in Ottawa on Tuesday. The Bulls have recalled goaltender Braydon Banitsiotis from the Ancaster Avalanche Jr. B team to tend the crease alongside Jason Da Silva.
