Dan Wedman Commits to the Cornell University Big Red

Press Release

Second year 1995 born PONTIAC defenseman Dan WEDMAN has committed to Cornell University for the 2014/15 season. Dan WEDMAN came to the PONTIACS from Edmonton’s South Side Athletic Club and was on the 2012/13 NHL “watch list” as well as recently attended the Team Canada West try-outs.

The Cornell University Big Red men's (NCAA) Division I Ivy League college ice hockey program represents Cornell University. Cornell competes in the ECAC Hockey conference and plays its home games at Lynah Rink in Ithaca, New York. The Big Red retired the numbers of Ken Dryden, who played 1965-69, and Joe Nieuwendyk, who played 1984-87.

The Bonnyville PONTIACS organization, its fans and the entire Bonnyville community congratulate Dan for his accomplishment. PONTIACS GM/Head Coach Rick SWAN states, “Dan has made some excellent strides with respect to his development over the last two years and his potential is incredible. More importantly than his on-ice attributes, Dan is an excellent person who comes from a great, supportive family and our organization is extremely excited that his hard work has been rewarded with a scholarship to Cornell. We look forward to Dan’s continued contributions this season to the PONTIACS and know that Cornell will be getting a quality player and person that will also be a great addition, both on and off the ice, to the Big Red program starting next season. Well-deserved Dan.”
