Nyberg decides to Leave Rockets; return home

Press Release

The Kelowna Rockets regret to announce that import player Henrik Nyberg has left the Rockets to return to his hometown in Sweden.

Nyberg, 19, was in his second season with the Rockets and had appeared in 21 games this year, collecting three assists.

"Henrik has come to the realization that playing in North America is not in his future and he wants to move on with his life," said Rockets' head coach Ryan Huska. "We fully support him in his decision and wish him well in the future."

A native of Danderyd, Sweden, Nyberg was selected by the Rockets in the 2012 CHL import draft and played in 54 games last season, collecting eight goals and nine assists.

During his time with the Rockets Nyberg became known as a hard-worker and a good teammate who also participated in many community events with the team.
