Kozun commits to Alaska - Anchorage

The Nipawin Hawks are very pleased to announce that Forward Tad Kozun has committed to the University of Alaska – Anchorage for the 2014-15 season.

The University of Alaska – Anchorage is the largest of the Universities in Alaska, with a student population of just under 18,000, and is a Division 1 NCAA Program.  The Seawolves are under the coaching direction of Matt Thomas, who, at present, is in his first year as Head Coach.  Other SJHLers playing for the Seawolves are Tanner Dusyk, and Blake Tachell.

Since 2010-11 Season, Tad has amassed 116 points, including his 34 points this season. This season, his impressive play has earned him Canalta Hotels Player of the Week, and Tad is the top scorer in the league, with an impressive 22 goals in 23 games.  Tad also leads the league in goals, as well as power play goals.  He is 5th in the league in shorthanded goals.

In the offseason, Tad has worked very diligently on his conditioning and has elevated his game to a different level.  From a fan perspective, he is a joy to watch; working with his teammates to create opportunities, and his creativity keeps the fans in awe.

“We are incredibly proud of Tad’s accomplishment, and know he will do a great job in Anchorage as a student athlete.  It has been a pleasure to see Tad develop as a player and a person these past 3 years.  We know he will represent both the Hawks and the SJHL proudly at the next level, and it will be a joy to follow his career in Anchorage,” said Head Coach Doug Johnson.

In speaking with Tad, he had this to say about the commitment; “I could not be any more excited to continue my dream at Anchorage.  I would like to thank the Hawks organization for helping me develop into the player I am today, and also the person that I have become.”
