Dauphin suspended six games

BOUCHERVILLE, Sunday November 24, 2013 - The Commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Gilles Courteau, today suspended Laurent Dauphin of the Chicoutimi Saguenéens for 6 games. The suspension is retroactive to November 21st. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on November 20 in the second game of the SUBWAY Super Series.

On the play, the opponent was skating towards the corner of the ice to retrieve the puck.

The player at fault was coming in at great speed, from the center of the ice, and hit his opponent from behind.

Upon impact, the player at fault propelled himself upwards and his skates left the ice.

The player at fault didn’t make an effort to minimise the impact.

The injury to the opponent was considered in the the decision.

This was the first offence for the player at fault.

The Commissioner took this decision after having viewed videos of the incident, considered the officials report, spoken to the players and organizations involved and after consulting the Advisory Committee for disciplinary action.
