Ice Defenseman Commits to Army

Press Release

Indiana Ice defenseman Michael Preston has committed to play collegiate hockey at the United States Military Academy beginning next season.

The 6-1, 205-pound defenseman has recorded one assist and 51 penalty minutes over 12 games for the Ice this season.  It is the first season with the Ice for the native of nearby Carmel, Indiana who celebrated his 20th birthday earlier this month.  Preston first played in the USHL last season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks and registered four points (1g, 3a), 88 penalty minutes, and a plus-two rating in 47 games.  His lone goal was the game-winner in the 4-1 victory against the Chicago Steel on March 22nd, 2013.

Preston joins Ice teammate Tyler Pham who also committed to play hockey at Army earlier this week.  Omaha Lancers goaltender Cole Bruns also committed to the school this week.  The United States Military Academy is a member of Atlantic Hockey and the Army Black Knights have two USHL alumni on the roster this season; Christian Pomarico (Muskegon Lumberjacks) and Andrew O’Leary (Lincoln Stars).
