Burke Family Donate $1 million to Meridian Centre Campaign

Press Release

St. Catharines Mayor Brian McMullan announced today that a new road, to be built adjacent to the Meridian Centre, will be christened IceDogs Way.

Niagara IceDogs owners Bill and Denise Burke were given the naming rights to the road in recognition of their $1 million donation to the Meridian Centre fundraising campaign.

"We’re pleased to accept this generous gift from Bill and Denise Burke, which demonstrates their commitment and dedication to our community," said Mayor Brian McMullan. "At the first game, I look forward to dropping the puck at the Meridian Centre located on IceDogs Way."

The donation kicks off the public fundraising campaign for the Meridian Centre, which will see various sponsorship and fundraising opportunities announced in the coming months.

"Denise and I are passionate that the Meridian Centre will be the key to rejuvenating our downtown," said Bill Burke, owner, Niagara IceDogs. "We want everyone to follow IceDogs Way to the best entertainment in Niagara."

The entire IceDogs organization is extremely excited for the completion of the Meridian Centre in time for the 2014-15 season and looks forward to seeing everyone come down IceDogs Way on their way to the Meridian Centre for years to come!
