Fraser suspended for five games

The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc today suspended Jeremie Fraser of the Val-d’Or Foreurs for 5 games. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occured on February 28 against the Gatineau Olympiques.

Here is the rationale that led to the decision :

The opponent skated from the centre circle of his zone while in posession of the puck. Immediately after crossing the blue line, he passed the puck to his teammate.

The player at fault was in a backchecking position. He took three strides to accelerate and headed towards his opponent. He flexed and hit his opponent blindside.

The opponent passed the puck and turned his gaze towards that direction. He was in a vulnerable position.

The player at fault hit him simultaneously on his body and head.

The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed videos of the incident, considered the officials report, spoken to the players and organizations involved and after consulting the Advisory Committee for disciplinary action.
