LaCouvee's strong playoff start earns Player of the Week honours

Press Release

Alberni Valley goaltender Connor LaCouvee has been named BCHL Player of the Week ending Mar. 9, the league announced Monday.

LaCouvee's strong start to the playoffs has given his team a surprising 3-1 series lead over the number-one seed from the Island Division, the Victoria Grizzlies. His 37-save performance in a game-two 6-3 win gave the Bulldogs the split in the first two games on the road. LaCouvee followed that up by stopping 33 shots in a 4-0 shutout win in game three. His dominant week was capped off in game four when he faced 48 shots and allowed only one goal in a 3-1 win over the Grizzlies which means the Bulldogs will have three chances to finish off the series and advance to the second round.

The 19-year old netminder from Qualicum Beach, B.C. posted a 1.51 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage going 3-1 in the first four games of the playoffs. He was named first star in games two, three and four and has faced 156 shots in the series, allowing only six goals.
