Prospera Place naming rights extended

Press Release

Kelowna, BC – RG Properties Ltd. and Prospera Credit Union are proud to announce today an agreement on a five-year renewal of their partnership for naming rights of Prospera Place in Kelowna, BC. The extension will keep the facility’s name as Prospera Place through January of 2019.

Prospera Place is located in the heart of downtown Kelowna and has been a community staple since its construction in 1999. With a capacity of 6,000-8,000 people for concerts and hockey games, Prospera Place is the premier multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility in Kelowna. The facility provides hundreds of jobs to Kelowna residents and will continue to offer high quality entertainment.

“Prospera Place has become synonymous with the city of Kelowna,” said Graham Lee, Owner of RG Properties LTD.  “We have a great partnership with Prospera Credit Union and appreciate their support of, and reach into the community.   We are very pleased to be extending our agreement, and look forward to great outcomes over the next five years.”

Built by RG Properties Ltd. in 1999, Prospera Credit Union has held the naming rights to Prospera Place since 2003.

“In 2003, our Prospera team was very excited to extend our credit union operations to serve the Okanagan community,” said Prospera’s President and CEO, Bruce Howell. “In the decade since, we have put down roots, built strong relationships and expanded operations to serve members through four branches. Supporting the local community is important to us as a co-operative and we’re thrilled to continue our arena partnership.”

During the 11 years the facility has been known as Prospera Place the arena has enjoyed tremendous success. Home to the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Kelowna Rockets, Prospera Place played host to the 2004 Memorial Cup and has hosted three WHL Championships (2003, 2005 and 2009).  It should also be noted that the recent 2014 Olympic Gold medal team included four former members of the Kelowna Rockets playing at Prospera and supported by the Kelowna community.

Other highlights over the last 11 years include:

World Junior Hockey Championships in 2005
WHL Top Prospects Game in 2012
Grand Slam of Curling in 2012
World class concerts including Elton John, Sting and Kiss

RG Properties and Prospera Credit Union are, and will continue to be, active and engaged members of the community with a priority placed on supporting local youth groups and charitable initiatives in Kelowna and throughout the Okanagan Valley.
