Jr. Trappers sign two forwards

Press Release

The North Bay Jr. Trappers have signed another pair of forwards as the organization prepares for training camp which opens August 22nd at Memorial Gardens in North Bay.

On Thursday the organization locked up veteran Adam Marceau for the upcoming season. The North Bay native recorded 5 goals and added 8 assists for 13 points in 41 regular season games last season.

“Yeah, it’s an honour to be back in North Bay to finish off my junior hockey,” said Marceau.

“I’m expecting the best, we’ve got a good crop of guys coming back, the expectations are pretty high right now. We are going to put together a playoff run.”

Jr. Trappers Associate GM Randy Blake believes Marceau brings a lot to the table.

“He’s an energy player and it’s always great to have a local player back for his third and final season with the team,” said Blake.

Meantime recently the Jr. Trappers signed Huntsville native Brandon Janke. The 1993 birth year forward played for the Huntsville Otters Midget BB team last season and was an affiliate player with the Huntsville Otters of the OJHL.

“I went to their prospect camp and just really fell in love,” said Janke about the Jr. Trappers July camp.

“Well obviously you know Tom McCarthy, he’s a big deal about it. There’s a lot of great guys on the team, I know one from experience and it felt like the place to be.”

Jr. Trappers head coach Tom McCarthy is familiar with Janke’s game.

“Brandon is very offensively skilled, he reads the play very well, he sees the game very well,” said McCarthy.

“His competitive level is very high and I have watched him play hockey for 8 years and I’ve seen him develop and all the good things he’s done for the hockey teams that he has played for and he’s played large roles both offensively and defensively with those teams.”
