Gamblers Name Team Captains

The Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) have announced that third year forward Grant Arnold and third year defensemen Max Hartner have been named team captains.

Arnold and Hartner return as two of only three players left from the 2009-2010 squad that captured both the Anderson and Clark Cup Championships. Hartner, who was the Gamblers team captain last season, posted USHL career highs in goals (6), assists (6), plus/minus (+8) and games played (44) during the 2010-11 campaign

Arnold tallied six goals and nine assists in 59 games last season. The Centennial, Colorado native shined in the 2011 Clark Cup playoffs registering two goals and five assists in 11 games.

The Gamblers also named second-year players C.J Eick and Andy Welinski assistant captains.

Welinski appeared in 51 games last season for the Gamblers registering six goals and eight assists. During his rookie campaign, Welinski was a member of a Gamblers defensive core that led the 16-team USHL in goals against. This past season, the Duluth Minnesota native was selected in the 3rd round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks.

From nearby Appleton, Eick returns to the Gamblers for a second year. The hometown boy made his mark during his rookie campaign in the USHL, tallying five goals and four assists in 55 games. Eick came alive in the Gamblers run to the Clark Cup Finals last season, registering four goals and three assists.
