Press Release
The Kingston Frontenacs acquired overage defenceman RyanHanes from the
Kitchener Rangers in exchange for a 7th round pick in the 2013 Ontario
Hockey League Priority Selection.
“It came down to the play of
our young defencemen,” said Rangers’ general manager and head coach
Steve Spott. “We feel we’re at a point where they can become regular
contributors for us.”
The play of the younger Ranger defense will also be a benefit for the Fronts, as they land a veteran OHL defenseman.
“It’s
a great opportunity for him in Kingston,” said Spott. “They have a
young team and it will be nice for them to work with a veteran OHL
defenceman.”
The 20-year-old stay-at-home rearguard was a solid
defensive presence for the Rangers and played alongside the highly
offensive Ryan Murphy for most of his time in Kitchener. He did not
record a point in nine games wth Kitchener and has missed the past five
games with a shoulder injury but is expected to return to action next
week.
