Jets forward Ford commits to NCAA DI Bemidji State

Press Release

Jason Ford, a forward for the Janesville Jets of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), and former Team Wisconsin standout, has accepted a scholarship offer to play NCAA Division I hockey and attend school at Bemidji State University in Minnesota.

It is anticipated that Jason will start college hockey during the 2015-16 school year.  The Bemidji State Beavers currently play in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).

To-date, Ford (6'0", 180 lbs) is the leading scorer for the Janesville Jets with 15 points (9 goals, 6 assists) in 16 games.  He also has an impressive +7 plus/minus scoring rating.  (Please see attached action photo of Jason Ford.)

Jason graduated from Waunakee (WI) High School in 2012, playing hockey there for three seasons as well as the last two for Team Wisconsin.

"For me, I have always had to work hard and it has paid off big time," said Ford.  "I am very excited to go play for such a great hockey program and coaching staff.  It is an excellent fit for me with Bemidji State.  I want to thank all those who have believed in me, including the Janesville Jets organization."

"Jason has worked extremely hard to achieve this goal of receiving and accepting a Division 1 scholarship," stated Jets Head Coach Joe Dibble.  "He has developed into a go-to-guy for us in Janesville.  Bemidji State is a first-class organization and they are getting a first-class young man."

Past Janesville Jets players to commit to Division 1 hockey schools include Garrett Cecere (Colorado College), Alec McCrea (Harvard), Ross Mauermann (Providence), Larkin Jacobson (University of Denver) and Rui Encarnacao (University of Connecticut).
