MUSKEGON, Michigan (November 5th) – The Muskegon Lumberjacks have announced their second trade of the day as they have picked up Forward Christopher Dodero from the Chicago Steel in exchange for Forward C.J. Smith and a 7th-round pick in the 2014 USHL Phase Two Draft. Dodero will make his Lumberjacks debut tomorrow morning at home against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
Dodero, the Bloomingdale, Illinois native, is currently in his second season in the USHL with the Steel and was drafted by Chicago in the 3rd-round (36th overall) during the 2012 USHL Futures Draft. This season, Dodero has notched one goal in ten games played and is committed to Colorado College out of the newly-formed National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) following his junior career.
In 62 games played with the Steel during his USHL career, Dodero has totaled six goals and seven assists.
C.J. Smith is currently in his first season with the Lumberjacks and in the USHL and has recorded four goals and one assist to go along with a plus-three rating in 13 games played this season. Smith was drafted by Muskegon in the second-round (17th overall) during the 2013 USHL Phase Two Draft and is committed to the University of Massachusetts-Lowell out of the Hockey East Association following his junior career.
