Broncos Sign Gonek

Swift Current Bronco General Manager and Head Coach, Mark Lamb announced that they have signed Zack Gonek to a Western Hockey League contract.

Gonek was selected 13th overall by the Broncos in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. The 6’1”, 185 pound defenceman played 28 games with the St. Albert Gregg Distributors Sabres of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League (AMBHL) last season where he notched 9 goals and 13 assists (leading all Sabres’ defencemen in scoring). Gonek was listed as one of the AMBHL’s top defenceman for the 2010-11 campaign.

"Gonek is a very strong and powerful skater", states Bronco Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel, Jamie Porter. "He has a great offensive upside and plays a solid, defensive game. He is also quite a physical and tough player.”
