Moose acquire Hardie, Critchlow

Press Release

Halifax Mooseheads General Manager Cam Russell announced today the Club has acquired 17yr old defenceman Austyn Hardie and 20yr old forward Cameron Critchlow from the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and Victoriaville Tigres, respectively.

In exchange for Hardie, the Mooseheads traded defenceman Carl Tremblay, selected 25th overall in the 2011 QMJHL Entry Draft, and a 3rd round pick in 2012. Critchlow was acquired from the Victoriaville Tigres in exchange for a 2012 5th round pick.

Hardie, who was selected 12th overall by Chicoutimi in the 2010 QMJHL Entry Draft, captained College Charles-Lemoyne of the Quebec Midget AAA League last season. The 5’11” 190lbs rearguard collected 15 points in 37 games along with 98 penalty minutes.

“Hardie is a tough, physical puck moving defenseman” stated Russell. “He’s a young d-man with tremendous character and we’re happy to have finally acquired him.”

Critchlow, a native of Summerside PEI, captained a young Lewiston Maineiacs team all the way to the league semi-finals last season. Like Hardie, Critchlow is a former 1st round pick, selected 14th overall by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the 2007 QMJHL Entry Draft. Critchlow had 34 points in 65 games last season for the Maineiacs.

“Critchlow brings leadership and playoff experience to our Club” stated Russell. “It’s important for us to have players like Cameron to instil these intangibles in our young talented group of players”.

The Mooseheads open training camp Wednesday, August 17th. Full details on the Mooseheads training camp and roster will be released later this week.
