Americans Sign 2012 Draft Prospect Maxwell James

Press Release

Kennewick, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has signed 16-year-old prospect Maxwell James to a standard WHL Players Contract.

James, a 6’3 215-pound forward from Kamloops, British Columbia, recently concluded his first season with the Thompson Blazers Midget AAA of the British Columbia Major Midget League.  In 40 games this season, James collected 4 goals, 12 points and 69 penalty minutes.  James was originally drafted by Tri-City in the 6th round (131st overall) in the 2012 Bantam Draft.  With James’ signing today, the Americans have now inked their top-six picks from the 2012 Bantam Draft, joining Parker Wotherspoon, Braden Purtill, Tyler Fraser, Ty Comrie and Evan Sarthou.

“Max has shown tremendous commitment and dedication since last year’s camp,” stated Americans’ Prospect Development Coach/Head Scout Barclay Parneta.  “This has resulted in maturation on the ice that is evident in his goal to become a WHL player.”
