Petes acquire Rylee McKinnon from Saginaw Spirit

Peterborough Petes GM Michael Oke announced today the acquisition of defenceman Rylee McKinnon from the Saginaw Spirit in exchange for a conditional 15th round draft pick in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection.

McKinnon, a 17-year old native of Whitby played in 52 games for the Peterborough Petes’ affiliate Cobourg Cougars of the OJHL during the 2012-2013 season, recording 6 points and 64 penalty minutes. The 6’0”, 163 pound defenceman was drafted 257th overall by the Saginaw Spirit in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection.

McKinnon recently won the Minto Cup national Junior A lacrosee championship as a defenceman for the Whitby Warriors. He will be attending Petes’ Training Camp this week.

“Our scouting staff took note of Rylee last year while playing with our affiliate the Cobourg Cougars,” said Oke. “We are happy to be able to have him join our organization and we look forward to seeing him at training camp this week.”
