QMJHL takes game one of Subway Super Series

GATINEAU, Monday, November 18, 2013 - Tonight the Under-20 Russian delegation of All-Stars was facing the best of what the QMJHL had to offer in front of a capacity crowd at the Robert-Guertin Centre.

The starting lineup for Team QMJHL was Zachary Fucale in nets while Dillon Fournier and Samuel Morin started on defense with Jonathan Drouin in the middle of Anthony Mantha and Charles Hudon at forward.

Team QMJHL stuck first on their seventh shot of the game. At 11:56 of the first period, Hudon found the back of the net with a shot from the slot. Drouin had the great set up on the game's first goal.

Hudon struck again at 4:02 of the second frame. Hudon found himself in perfect position on a another great Drouin pass. The Russians cut the led by one near the midway point of the second period off the stick of Ivan Barbashev.

The Russians tied the game up two at 6:06 of the third period. The goal was score as teams were playing four on four hockey.

Anthony Mantha gave the lead back to the home team at 15:53 of the third period with Charles Hudon and Jonathan Drouin collecting their third point of the night.

Charles Hudon was named the player of the game for Team QMJHL.

The two teams will meet again on Wednesday night when they face off in Sherbrooke for the second game of the SUBWAY Super Series.
