Broncos Make a Pair of Roster Moves

Press Release

Swift Current Broncos’ Head Coach and General Manager Mark Lamb has announced the club has re-assigned defenseman Brody Luhning and forward Robbie Newton.

Luhning, 18 years old, spent last season with the Broncos seeing action in 30 games and notching 1 point. Luhning hails from Lumsden, SK and was picked by the Broncos in the 8th round of the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft. Prior to the Broncos, Luhning played for the Regina Pat Canadians in the Saskatchewan Midget League.

Newton, from Saskatoon, played midget for the Saskatoon Contacts last season as a 16 year old. He was originally selected by Seattle in the 4th round of the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft and acquired last season by the Broncos for Scott Ramsay.

Both players’ Junior A rights are held by the Battleford’s Stars of the SJHL.

With the moves, the Broncos have 26 players on the roster. Cody Eakin is still away at Washington Capitals camp and Dillon Wagner is on injured reserve after off season knee surgery.
