Old Dutch Showcase Weekend drawing near

Press Release

Junior A hockey fans in Manitoba and especially in Winnipeg will have an excellent opportunity to see exciting MJHL action when the League hosts its seventh MJHL Showcase. The 2010 Old Dutch Showcase takes place from October 7 - 9, 2010.

The Manitoba Junior Hockey League is thrilled to announce that this year's Showcase will be hosted at the brand new MTS Iceplex which will also be the new home arena of the Winnipeg Blues. The MTS Iceplex is located at 3969 Portage Ave and there is only one entrance to the facility.

“The MJHL is excited to present the 2010 MJHL Showcase once again which is an important event for the NHL as their teams assess talent across the country by looking at players eligible for the Draft in June 2011. This event is also well attended by university scouts throughout Canada and the United States,” said MJHL Commissioner Kim Davis.

“The feedback we receive after this event is very positive. I know the scouts like to see the event in one venue, while fans have the opportunity to watch all 11 MJHL teams during a single weekend. It’s really a hockey fan’s ultimate dream.

“The players in our league enjoy this event, which provides them an excellent opportunity to showcase their talents. As a result of their performance at the Showcase two players (Brendan O'Donnell and Peter Stoykewych) were ranked by NHL Central Scouting in the final rankings for the 2010 NHL Draft.”
