Vanderhoek named BCHL's POW

Press Release

Surrey Eagles forward Richard Vanderhoek has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending September 19th, the league announced Tuesday.

Vanderhoek helped lead Surrey to a perfect record on their three-game Vancouver Island/Sunshine Coast road swing, picking up victories in Nanaimo, Cowichan Valley and Powell River. On Friday, the 19-year old scored twice and totalled six points in an 8-2 win over the Clippers. Two days later he netted a hat trick and four points in a 6-5 triumph over the Kings.

In total, the Langley B.C. product scored six times and tallied 11 points in three games. He was also a key factor in the Eagles' power-play scoring 14 goals on 26 opportunities for a tremendous 54% overall.

Honourable mentions for this week's award include Langley's Matt Ius, Vernon's Blake Voth and Surrey's Jeff Vanderlugt.
