Press Release
The
SilverBack's are ecstatic to announce the return of Kamloops product;
and former Salmon Arm SilverBack Brock Balson. Balson left Salmon Arm
last season for WHL's Kamloops Blazers and will now be returning to the
comforts of the Shaw Centre.
SilverBack's fans will
remember Brock as a hard-nosed forward, with an eye for the front of the
net who pitched in with 10 goals and 9 assists in twenty games last
season before joining the Blazer's at Christmas.
One of
the high points for the 6ft, 190lbs forward with the SilverBack's in the
2011-2012 campaign was a winning goal in a very close game against
Westside at Royal Lepage Place; where he stripped a defenseman at the
blue-line and fired a hard shot home to complete the Salmon Arm comeback
victory.
GM and Minority Owner Troy Mick says the move
give his front end a big boost, "Similar to Jason Trott, we're talking
about a young man with a ton of Western Hockey League experience to go
with a great hockey mind. We've seen what Brock can do at this level and
hope that his time with the Blazer's has allowed him to grow even more
as a player and a person."
'Backs fans can expect to see
Balson in the line-up at home next weekend against Langley. They should
know he will look slightly different when they do see him on the ice
this time around with the ‘Backs; making the switch from #28 to #24.
To make room for Balson on the roster, 18 year old forward Josh Ellis
was given his outright release and is waiting for re-assignment. The
SilverBacks would like to thank Josh for his contribution to the
organization and wish him the best of luck.
