Jonathan Drouin, Mikhail Grigorenko and Carl Hojzan were named today the TELUS three stars of the week for the period spanning September 20th to the 23rd.

The Halifax Mooseheads forward Jonathan Drouin gets the first star of the week. In two games, he kicked off the 2012-2013 season with 7 points including 2 goals and a +/- of +6. Friday, Drouin registered 7 out of the 45 shots against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, completing his first game with 2 points (1+1). He also earned the 2nd star of the game as the Mooseheads won 4-3 in overtime. In an 8-1 win against the PEI Rocket on Sunday, Drouin managed to collect a total of 5 points (1+4), an amount previously tallied by Jakub Voracek during a road game back in October of 2007.

Mikhail Grigorenko, the Quebec Remparts center, is the second star. The Buffalo Sabres’s first round pick maintained an average of 3 points per game for a total of 6 points. Friday, in a 9-4 win against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens, he registered 4 points in one game for the third time in his major junior career. On Sunday, Grigorenko got assists on the first two Remparts’ goals in a 5-0 win.

The third star is awarded to Carl Hozjan, the Rimouski Océanic goaltender. Hozjan allowed only one goal during the team’s two road games, maintaining a 0.61 goals-against-average and a .978 save percentage, leading Rimouski to two wins. Friday, during the Sherbrooke Phoenix’s home opener, Hozjan blocked 28 shots and was named the 2nd star of the game in a 5-1 victory. He was on fire on Saturday in Shawinigan. Coming in at the 27th minute of the game while trailing 3-0, he blocked 17 shots as the Océanic eventually won the game in a shootout by a score of 4-3. During the shootout, Hozjan did not let a single shot through.
