Musketeers Defenseman Chooses University of Minnesota-Duluth

Press Release

Sioux City Musketeers defenseman Dan Molenaar has committed to play collegiate hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth following his USHL career.

Molenaar begins his second season with the Musketeers after being acquired from the Green Bay Gamblers early in the 2011-12 season.  He put up more points than any other defenseman wearing a Musketeers uniform last season as he collected 18 points (2g, 16a) in 49 regular season games.  The 19-year-old from Eden Prairie, Minnesota scored his first career USHL goal on December 11th in a 3-2 loss to Team USA.  The defenseman added one assist in five games for the Gamblers prior to coming to Sioux City.

The University of Minnesota-Duluth is a member of the WCHA and has 20 USHL alumni on the Bulldogs roster for the upcoming season; Willie Corrin (Fargo Force), Chris Casto (Lincoln Stars), Andy Welinski (Green Bay Gamblers), Drew Olson (Omaha Lancers), Austin Farley (Fargo Force), Tony Cameranesi (Waterloo Black Hawks), Keegan Flaherty (Fargo Force), Jake Hendrickson (Sioux City Musketeers), Tim Smith (Indiana Ice), Mike Seidel (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Max Tardy (Tri-City Storm), Caleb Herbert (Sioux City Musketeers), Luke McManus (Tri-City Storm), Austyn Young (Sioux Falls Stampede), Justin Crandall (Omaha Lancers), Adam Krause (Sioux City Musketeers), Cal Decowski (Des Moines Buccaneers), Alex Fons (Sioux Falls Stampede), Aaron Crandall (Des Moines Buccaneers), and Matt McNeely (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders).
