Broncos Release Statements from Annual Shareholders Meeting

Press Release

The Swift Current Broncos Hockey Club released their financial statements from their 2011/2012 season.
The Broncos announced a small financial profit of $4,238.  This represents an increase of $201,464 over the prior year’s loss of $197,226.  The loss on the Hockey Operations side was $964,064, but additional revenues from drafted NHL players, the World Junior Hockey Championship and increases in Corporate Sponsorship, Corporate Suites and Fundraising provided enough monetary support.  The Broncos noted that the best method of reducing this loss is to put more fans in the seats stating their continuous efforts to work towards increasing ticket gate revenue.

Income from ticket sales and per game attendance was slightly greater than the previous year with average attendance at 2,204 (up from 2,136 the previous year). Fundraising events continued to grow this past season as revenue from these events increased from $42,865 to $77,063 this past year.  Concession and souvenir sales stayed relatively the same from the previous year.  The club also announced that they recorded 797 hours of community service last year (up from recent years).

While the organization continues to work towards increasing revenue in all areas, they also have been implementing and updating several initiatives that will be put into place this season, including:
  • Profit and Position Team:  A group of 17 people (ranging from interested fans, corporate sponsors and experts) that will provide ideas on various aspects of the business side from season ticket holder initiatives, game day experience and marketing.
  • Revamping all fundraising projects including the volunteers involved, idea generation and execution of events.
  • Additional Season Ticket  Holder benefits and incentives (for exclusive season ticket holder jacket)
  • Adopt-a-Player Program:  a newly created program that allows companies the opportunity to sponsor players.
The Broncos would like to thank all of the loyal fans, members and businesses for their continued support.
