Brenden Walker Named Blades Captain

Press Release

The Saskatoon Blades are very pleased to announce that forward Brenden Walker has been named as their team captain for the 2012-13 season.

Walker is one of the Blades three 20 year olds this season after being acquired from the Brandon Wheat Kings last May.  The native of St. Anne, Manitoba is coming off his 200th career game on Wednesday night and has one goal and one assist in three games so far this season.

"Since arriving in Saskatoon from Brandon he's possessed a tremendous amount of great qualities, including a great work ethic," said Saskatoon Blades Head Coach and General Manager Lorne Molleken.

"We feel that as a 20 year old, Brenden is ready to take on this role as the captain of our team.  He's new to the organization, but he's really worked hard to get the players on the same page and to work as one.  Brenden is a fun guy to be around, he's earned the respect of the players in our room and we are very excited to make this announcement."

Walker will wear the 'C' on his jersey for the first time tomorrow night as the Blades travel to Swift Current.  No alternate captains have been announced at this time.
