SILVERTIPS ACQUIRE COTTON FROM THUNDERBIRDS

Press Release

EVERETT – The Everett Silvertips today announced a game-day trade that will bring goaltender Daniel Cotton to Everett from the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.  With Austin Lotz unavailable after being injured in the second period of Saturday’s game at Seattle, Cotton will join Cole Holowenko in uniform for today’s game against the Tri-City Americans.

Cotton, 18, has yet to play in a game during his second WHL season after serving primarily as a back-up to Thunderbirds’ goaltender Calvin Pickard last year.  In 17 appearances a season ago, the Vancouver, BC native posted a 0-8 record, a 4.91 goals-against average and a .876 saves percentage.  The 6-4, 185-netminder made 45 saves in his first career start last October as Seattle fell 4-1 to the Brandon Wheat Kings.
