The Month of November is Men's Health Awareness Month, better known
as "Movember." On November 30th the NA3HL’s St. Louis Jr. Blues will be
joining the league-wide cause and raising funds to help Corey Bryant,
the grandson of longtime Jr. Blues General Manager Frank Steckler,
battle with cancer when the Jr. Blues face off against Cincinnati.
Proceeds raised will help the Bryant family with the added expenses
that have accumulated during his bout with cancer.
Corey and his brother Kyle have been huge Jr. Blues fans over the
years as they grew up around the Affton Ice Rink as young children.
Their uncle Kraig Steckler is a former Jr. Blues defenseman and Grandpa
Frank retired four years ago as the GM.
"I remember seeing Corey as a little kid cheering on the team when I
was a player," said Head Coach Chris Flaugher. The Steckler family has
been a big part of the Jr. Blues/ Affton Americans tradition. Frank
works as a rink employee and still helps out around the Jr. Blues locker
room and his wife help runs the concession stand and is a master at
making the famous Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich that everyone loves.
Flaugher added, "This family is the epitome of what our program
represents. Hosting this game is the least we can do to show our support
to a family that has contributed a lot of time and effort over the
years."
The team will donate $10 for every goal scored by the Jr. Blues to
the cause and there will be a silent auction that will include an
autographed T.J. Oshie St. Louis Blues jersey among other items, but the
most attractive item up for auction will be a Nashville trip that will
include two tickets to a Blues/ Predators game and a night stay at the
Nashville Drury Inn and Suites.
