Calderone commits to University of Michigan

Sioux Falls, SD—The Sioux Falls Stampede are proud to announce that forward Tony Calderone has committed to the University of Michigan for the 2014-15 season. He becomes the 14th Stampede player on the roster to commit to a Division I program.

A native of Trenton, Mich., Calderone is in his second season with the Stampede and has recorded 24 points (11g, 13a) and is a plus-7 in 36 games this season. Last year, Calderone tallied 44 points (29g, 15a) and was a plus-8 while appearing in all 64 games for the regular season Western Conference champion Stampede. He went on to record five points (3g, 2a) in 10 playoff games.

Calderone was the first overall pick in the 2012 USHL Draft after finishing as the top scorer in all of Tier I Midget Major with Victory Honda with 65 points in 40 games during the 2011-12 season.

The University of Michigan is located in Ann Arbor, Mich. and has an enrollment of 36,000 students. The Wolverines are members of the newly created Big Ten Conference and coached by the legendary Red Berenson. Former Stampede forward Justin Selman I a sophomore with the Wolverines.
