Musketeers acquire defenseman in trade with Indiana

Press Release

Sioux City, Iowa – The Sioux City Musketeers have acquired defenseman Jake Cass
from the Indiana Ice in exchange for defenseman Ryan Mantha along with future considerations.

Cass comes to Sioux City with two years of USHL experience under his belt joining the Ice mid-season a year ago.  The 6’ 195 pound Stillwater MN native has 1 goal and 4 assists on the season along with a +3 rating for Indiana this season.

Cass was drafted in the 5th round of the 2012 USHL Futures draft by the Omaha Lancers. He was traded as an affiliate to Indiana by the Lancers in December of 2012. The Ice called him up full time in the second half of the 2012-13 season.

“We felt making a change on the back end during the second half of the season would be important.  Jake has offensive abilities along with a good feel for the entire game.  We look forward to his addition to our Defensive Core.” stated General Manager Luke Strand in reference to the newly acquired defenseman.

Mantha heads East with 2 goals and 11 assists in his 89 games as a Musketeer.  “Ryan has a bright future in this game.  He is in the infant stages of his career.  We wish him all the best in the future.”
