Kamloops roster moves and injury update

Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers are set to play four games in five nights this week starting on Tuesday night when they host the Spokane Chiefs. The hockey club has been forced to make a few roster moves as two players suffered long-term injuries over the weekend.

The Blazers have called up forward Deven Sideroff from the Okanagan Midget Prep team for the week. The 16-year-old has played 33 games this season and compiled 26 goals and 55 points. The Summerland, BC native has played one game with the Blazers earlier this season in Prince George. Sideroff will wear #34.

The hockey club will be without the services of 18-year-old forward Luke Harrison and 20-year-old forward Tyson Ness long-term. Ness suffered his injury on Friday night, while Harrison was injured on Saturday night.

Goaltender Cole Kehler was added to the roster last week and will remain with the Blazers for the time being due to an injury to Justin Myles. In 23 games with the Okanagan Midget Prep team, the 6’3” and 190lb native of Altona, MB has a 19-4 record. The 16-year-old has appeared in six games with the Blazers this season.

On Wednesday in Vancouver, the Blazers will have 15-year-old forward Quinn Benjafield in the line-up as he makes his WHL debut in his hometown. Benjafield was the Blazers first round pick, 19th overall in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. Benjafield will wear #39.

The 6’1” and 165lb forward is playing for the Vancouver North West Giants of the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League. In 27 games this season, Benjafield has 14 goals and 34 points. The Vancouver NW Giants sit second in the 11-team BCMML with a 24-5-1 record.
