Chiefs veteran forward Tibbett commits to Merrimack College

Press Release

It's been a tough year in Chilliwack for the Chiefs but a consistent bright spot has been the breakout season of forward Mathieu Tibbet.

The 20-year-old native of Viola, Delaware has career highs in goals, assists and points and it's earned him an opportunity at the NCAA Div. I level as Merrimack College has signed him for next season.

Tibbet leads the Chiefs in goals with 25 and points with 47 this season. He hinted at the success in last year's playoffs as he scored seven points in eight postseason games.

At Merrimack, Tibbet will join a program that has traditionally been a strong recruiter from the BCHL. This season the Warriors have nine BCHL alums on their roster in Craig Wyszomirski, captain Jordan Heywood, Sean Robertson, Quinn Gould, Mike Collins, Kyle Singleton, Brendan Ellis, Josh Myers and Matt Cronn.

Tibbet's Mainland Division rival Jace Hennig of the Coquitlam Express will be a future teammate at Merrimack also.
