Mantha, Barbashev and Poirier named the TELUS three stars of the week

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday February 10th, 2014 - Anthony Mantha, Ivan Barbashev and Émile Poirier were named today the TELUS three stars of the week for February 3 to February 9, 2014

The first star of the week is the Val-d'Or Foreurs' forward, Anthony Mantha. In 3 games, Mantha scored 5 goals, got 4 assists and had a +/- of +5. His best performance of the week occurred Sunday against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens when he got five points in a 12-3 win. Now with 97 points, Mantha has a 5 point lead in the scoring race over his offensive rival Anthony Duclair of the Quebec Remparts.

Ivan Barbashev, Moncton Wildcats’ forward is the second star of the week. He tallied 9 points, with 6 goals in 3 games. Friday against the Charlottetown Islanders, Barbashev was named the first star of the game by collecting a 5 point career best for a 7-1 win. He now has 59 points, which puts him 20th overall amongst the top point getters.

The third star of the week is Emile Poirier of the Gatineau Olympiques. In 3 games, Poirier scored 8 goals. Wednesday against the Sherbrooke Phoenix, Poirier had a four goal performance in a 7-2 win. Sunday against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, Poirier scored 3 more goals to bring his season total to 40.
