Lafontaine commits to Canisius

Press Release

Buffalo Jr. Sabres forward Daniel LaFontaine (photo credit - Shawn Muir/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Canisius College Griffins beginning with the 2015-16 Atlantic Hockey season.

The native of Lloyd Harbor, New York and son of Hockey Hall of Fame Honoured Member Pat LaFontaine, joined the Buffalo Jr. Sabres this season after playing for the Long Island Royals from 2010-12 and Avon Old Farms prep school last year.  LaFontaine tasted immediate success in his rookie OJHL season, recording points in his first four contests, including a goal in his debut versus North York and a three point effort in game two versus the South Division champion Toronto Lakeshore Patriots.  Unfortunately, he would suffer a devastating knee injury in his fourth game versus Orangeville and has yet to return to the Jr. Sabres lineup this season after recording seven points in four games played.

Congratulations to Daniel and we look forward to seeing you resume your OJHL career!
