Desrosiers, Joly and Power named the TELUS three stars of the week

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday February 24th, 2014 - Philippe Desrosiers, Michael Joly and Marcus Power were named today the TELUS three stars of the week for February 17 to February 23, 2014.

The first star of the week is the Rimouski Oceanic goaltender, Philippe Desrosiers. In 3 wins, he maintained an average of 1.33 and a save percentage of .952. Desrosiers set a new QMJHL record for the longest streak of minutes without allowing a goal, 243 minutes and 35 seconds. He broke the League record against the Victoriaville Tigres on Monday night in a 5-0 win. The streak ended Wednesday night when he allowed a goal by the Sherbrooke Phoenix in a 9-3 win. He completed the week on Friday with a 4-1 win against the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

Desrosiers' teammate, Michael Joly is the second star of the week. The Rimouski Oceanic forward tallied 10 points in 4 games, including a 7 point game. During that game, he tied a team record with one goal and six assists and established a new career-high for a 7 point game. He collected a point in everyone of the three other games he played including 2 goals and an assist. In his second season, the 18 year old has 97 points in 109 games. He is the best scorer on his team with 39 goals this season.

Rouyn-Noranda Huskies’ Marcus Power, is the third star of the week. In 3 games, he scored 2 goals, collected 5 assists and kept a +/- of +7. Friday, against the Moncton Wildcats, Power got two assists in a 6-1 win. Against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, Saturday, he extended his streak to 11 consecutive games with at least one point during his third 4 point game in February in a 7-0 win. Power now has 99 points in 58 games, which ranks him second in the league, six points behind Anthony Mantha of the Val-d’Or Foreurs.
