Press Release sent to the World of Junior Hockey

PENTICTON, BC – The Penticton Vees Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Club took home some hardware at the 27th Annual Penticton Business Excellence Awards Saturday at the Penticton Lakeside Resort.

The Vees, first time nominees, won the 2014 Family Friendly Excellence Award. An award given out to Penticton and area businesses that provide a family friendly environment, maintains employment practices that support working families and or promotes community efforts to support healthy families.

“We have placed a high level of importance on creating an atmosphere that can be enjoyed by all ages,” Said Vees President, General Manager and Head Coach Fred Harbinson. “Our number one mandate was to make Vees hockey affordable to all families.”

Prior to this season, the Vees reduced the price of their season tickets significantly with the goal in mind to make watching Vees hockey accessible to everyone in Penticton and the South Okanagan. The team introduced three pricing levels, with fans having the option to buy season tickets starting from as little as $149.

The team also introduced a season ticket incentive geared towards getting younger fans turned onto the Vees. Children and youth in the South Okanagan between the ages of 4 and 17 received a free season’s pass if their parent/ guardian bought season tickets.

The entire Vees organization would like to congratulate their fellow nominees and all the business that were winners at the 27th Penticton Business Excellence Awards. Most importantly, the Vees would like to thank their fans for the tremendous support they’ve received during the 2013-2014 season.
