Kings’ Kotyk named Top Defenceman

Brenden Kotyk of the Dauphin Kings has been named the MJHL’s top defenceman, Commissioner Kim Davis announced today.

Prior to the Kings’ game against Swan Valley Stampeders, Kotyk was presented with the Brian Kozak Trophy. The 20-year-old Dauphin blueliner had an outstanding season for the Kings, who recently clinched first in the Sher-Wood Division and await their first-round playoff opponent.

Kotyk’s strong defensive play was complemented by his outstanding offensive skills, reflected in 62 points (16-46) in 57 games. He’s also scored six goals via the powerplay.

Runners-up were Yvan Pattyn of the Portage Terriers and Steve Sorensen of the Winkler Flyers.
