SJHL 2012 PLAYOFFS ARE SET

Press Release

The Bauer Conference playoff picture became clear on Friday night, because of a Nipawin victory, and a La Ronge overtime loss.

Nipawin beat Melfort 6-1, and La Ronge fell 3-2 in overtime in Flin Flon. That leaves the Ice Wolves two points back of the Hawks with one game to play, but because Nipawin has the season series over La Ronge, the Hawks get 3rd place, meaning the Ice Wolves will wind up 4th, and play Flin Flon in the Survivor Series, with the winner advancing to face Humboldt.

The Hawks will take on the 2nd place Battlefords North Stars in the Bauer Semi-Finals.

Jesse Bernard scored three goals and added an assist in Nipawin's win over Melfort.

La Ronge was up 2-0 in Flin Flon in the 3rd period, before the Bombers mounted the comeback. Dylan Balaski would tie it with just 41 seconds remaining, and win it 3:54 into overtime, both on the powerplay.

Humboldt went into Melville and beat the Millionaires 7-4.

Robbie Ciolfi had a goal and three assists for Humboldt, while Melville's Russell Trudeau scored twice.

Estevan doubled up Weyburn 6-3, starting off a season-ending home and home between the Wings and Bruins.

Calder Neufeld scored his 34th of the season for Estevan, and added one assist. Coltyn Sanderson added his 32nd of the year for the Red Wings.
