MURPHY ACCEPTS OFFER FROM COLGATE

Press Release

Wellington Dukes star forward Darcy Murphy (photo credit - Brian Watts/OJHL) has confirmed his commitment to join the Colgate University Raiders beginning with the 2013-14 ECAC season.

The 19-year old native of Marysville, Ontario just wrapped up his third full OJHL season after beginning his career in 2009-10 as a member of the Trenton Golden Hawks. Since moving to the Dukes at the tail-end of '09/10, Murphy has consistently improved upon his statistics, culminating this season as he was the OJHL's only 50 goal scorer, leading the league with 52 goals. The Dukes sniper would also be named the October Player-of-the-Month, finish as runner-up in the scoring race with 86 points and be named an OJHL 1st Team All-Star.

"Darcy has earned this great opportunity at Colgate through hard work and a tremendous attitude. He puts the team first and continues to improve his game by his high commitment level. Our entire organization and our great fans are very proud of Darcy" stated Dukes General Manager and Head Coach
Marty Abrams.

Over the past seven seasons the Dukes have moved over 40 players into the NCAA ranks including eight from their Dudley Hewitt Cup Championship team last year and several more to the OHL and CIS.
