Leask Commits to U of Alaska-Anchorage

Press Release

The Bonnyville Pontiacs are pleased to announce that 19-year-old defenceman, Blake Leask (Beaumont, AB), has verbally committed to attend the University of Alaska-Anchorage beginning the fall of 2012.

After appearing in four games as a 16-year-old affiliate player, Leask, a 5'10" 170 pound right shot, joined the Pontiacs the next season on a full time basis. His fluid skating, high intelligence, heavy shot, and great work ethic have made him a threat in both ends of the ice. A steady 2010-2011 season saw Leask collect 29 regular season points on his way to being named the Pontiacs Top Defenceman. This season Leask broke out to lead all AJHL defencemen in scoring by registering 49 points and recently received the W.G. (Bill) Scott Memorial Trophy awarded to the Alberta Junior Hockey League's Outstanding Defenceman.

The University of Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves play Division I in the NCAA's Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

The Pontiacs would like to congratulate Blake and his family, and wish him much success at University of Alaska-Anchorage.
