INDIANAPOLIS— The Indiana Ice added some offensive firepower today as the team acquired veteran forward Austin Ortega from the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in exchange for Indy affiliate list player Bryson Cianfrone. Ortega will wear #7 this weekend at the “Fall Classic”.
Ortega made his USHL debut last season in Cedar Rapids and finished tied for second on the team in both goals (19) and power play goals (7). Overall numbers included 33 points (19G, 14A) and 39 penalty minutes in 59 contests.
The native of Escondido, CA played alongside fellow Iceman Tyler Pham during the 2010-2011 season with the Colorado Thunderbirds program and has secured a future college commitment with the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks of the WCHA.
