Two U18 Ohio AAA Blue Jackets accept scholarships and verbally commit to two Ohio Schools

Press Release

The Ohio AAA Blue Jackets are proud to announce that U18 forward Kiefer Sherwood has committed to Miami University and U18 defenseman Connor McDonald has committed to Bowling Green State University.

Kiefer Sherwood added, “I am extremely excited as Miami is a great fit for my future goals and ambitions. To be a part of the “Miami Brotherhood” will be very special. It is also nice to see my hard work begin to payoff but I realize much of the work is just beginning.”

Sherwood becomes the 4th AAA Blue Jackets player to commit to Miami with McDonald becoming the 1st to commit to Bowling Green. McDonald has played in the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets for the past 6 seasons with Sherwood playing in the program 5 out of the past 6 seasons. Both players are currently playing for the U18 AAA Blue Jackets.

“I couldn’t be more excited to play for Bowling Green and Coach Bergeron. They are doing great things there and it will be a privilege to play there,” Connor McDonald commenting on his scholarship.

This past season both played for Coach Perry Ganchar on the U16 AAA Blue Jackets with Sherwood leading the team in scoring with 94 points in 59 games. McDonald was the leading scoring defenseman picking up 42 points in 59 games.

“I could not be happier for both players. They both found schools that are a fit for them academically as well as athletically. They are great kids who have worked very hard to get to this point. It is another exciting time for our program”, said Ed Gingher, U18 Head Coach and Program Coordinator.
