Union College Comes Calling For Joe Young

Press Release

We are excited to announce that recent Boston Advantage Midget alum, Joe Young, has decided to play his Divsion I College Hockey for the Union College Dutchman. Joe will be Union's goalie of the future starting in September of 2012.

Joe was a two year member of the Advantage Midget Program first playing a season with the Minor/U16 team and then playing this past season for the Major/U18 team. In 2011-2012 he played in 36 games and carried a 21-9-3 record. He had an excellent save percentage (.931) and his goals against average was less than 3.00.

Joe picked Union based on its academic reputation and its hockey tradition. The Dutchmen compete in the ECAC and most recently played their way into the 2012 Frozen Four. Joe had offers and or interest from 4 ECAC schools and 2 Hockey East schools.

Despite being a draft pick of the USHL Champion Green Bay Gamblers, Joe decided to play up in the highly competitive British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) for the Vernon Vipers. Vernon has been one of the top programs in the BCHL and has a strong connection with Eastern players.

Joe is a dynamic athletic 6'2" 172lbs goaltender that seems to make all the saves he should and follows that up with 2nd and 3rd saves as well.

We wish Joe the very best! Its a great opportunity for him to continue on his career. We are happy for him and his family!
